Impact: VPN and speed disturbances on few access links
Dear customer, dear partner,
On 15/11/2023 near 5:00 AM, we performed a change with our PXS collects in order to increase the internet access bandwidth and reduce traffic on a 2 specific PE.
After the change, we performed several tests to confirm the maintenance. The redundancy has been confirmed with no error.
On the same date, at 9:02 AM, we started to receive complains on specific VPN access.
Our team started to investigate and found performance issues with one of our switch ports. This problem was handled and solved at 11:00 AM, but without better conclusions.
From 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM : As only specific issues were spotted, we continued to check configuration on our side.
After several checks, we found that it could be due to BGP AS bad announces with PROXIMUS AS and our upstreams. We could confirm that with our diagnostic tools, with different results depending on different providers. Some worked, so did not.
After that, we implemented specific configuration to hide PXAS AS with SEWAN AS.
This result in a progressive improvement of lines speed, until 4:46 PM were we confirmed that the situation was back to normal.
Corrective maintenance will be foreseen in the coming days in order to prevent this type of issue from occurring in the future.
Please accept our apologize for the inconvenience it may have caused.
Best regards;
SEWAN technical team
